LAUNCH OF SUPER KMART CENTER
What happened, and what we are doing about it.

The last few weeks have been very humbling for the Development Team at VRChat Kmart Corporation as we have been working tirelessly to build a new store from scratch.

Super Kmart Center launched two days ago, 3 hours later than it was supposed to debut. In those three hours the Development Team attempted to patch as many remaining bugs as possible before the store needed to go live. Now with the store open and our initial investigations substantially complete, I wanted to take a moment to provide an update and some perspective on where things stand, what we have been doing to take care of issues found, and the measures we are taking to better our development process to prevent future incidents like this.

After the launch the Development Team realized the amount of issues from the get go. Collider issues, poorly optimized last minute objects, non-functional avatar pedestals, the list goes on. We are aware of these issues and more, and encourage shoppers and associates who encounter any issues in Super Kmart Center to report them to the Development Team.

As our initial investigation into the incident winds down, I felt it was important to share an update on our work and, importantly, what's next. We're fully committed to take our development efforts to the next level as we work to rebuild trust and I want to tell you more about what we have in progress.

Even though we have "Grand Opening" signage posted throughout the store, we are going to hold the official Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting at a later date when the store is better furnished. We are also working through delays recieving inventory into Super Kmart Center. Rest assured we are working closely with vendors to expedite merchandise to the store, have it stocked, and priced at discount prices.

In short, our Development Team will continue their work until Super Kmart Center is fully stocked and functional for our shoppers and associates.

Super Kmart Center is still planned to open on Oculus Quest at a later date. Once Oculus Quest support is added Kmart Express will close for remodel and renovations as well.

As we learn and evolve, we will always work to keep you informed of any important updates or relevant changes to our store locations and community. I also commit to you that while we're starting on this path with humility, we will bring to it the same energy that we have used for the past 2 years to make us VRChat's Favorite Store.
